The aim of counselling is to improve your quality of life. Counselling can help you to change the way you think in situations, to talk about things that have happened to you, to think about what you want and how to make it happen, to reach a place of acceptance for those things that you cannot change. We have counsellors trained to work with men and women from the age of 13 upwards.
Your initial contact will be with the centres Clinical Lead, Rebecca McCann, she will arrange a free of charge, no obligation telephone call with you so that you can ask any questions you may have, and also so that she can match you with the counsellor best suited to your needs.
Sessions with your counsellor will last 50 minutes, and will be weekly at least to begin with. Your counsellor is trained in a variety of psychotherapeutic methods in order to offer you totally individual support.
We believe that the purpose of counselling is to improve your quality of life. Your counsellor will listen to you with empathy and from a non-judgemental perspective. Counselling can provide a safe, confidential * space for you to explore how you are feeling right now.
You may chose to think about the effect your past has had on how you think and behave in your present and you may choose to focus on helpful coping strategies. Your counsellor will listen, guide and support you to improve your quality of life.
