Vestibular Physiotherapy for Dizziness and Vertigo in Glasgow

Do you struggle with dizziness or know someone who does?

Feeling spinning, light-headed, nauseous, wobbly or unsteady can be frightening and exhausting. You might feel like you’re rocking, swaying, floating or overly sensitive to light or motion.

But dizziness is not something you have to “just live with”.

Vestibular physiotherapy (also known as vestibular rehabilitation) focuses on retraining the balance systems in your body and brain. It can help you feel steady, confident and in control again.

What Can Vestibular Physiotherapy Help With?

Vestibular rehabilitation can be effective for a wide range of balance and dizziness conditions, including:

  • BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)

  • Ménière’s Disease

  • Vestibular Neuritis

  • Labyrinthitis

  • Vestibular Migraine

  • Persistent Postural-Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD)

After a thorough assessment, treatment is tailored to each individual. This may include specific exercises to:

  • Improve balance

  • Reduce dizziness and vertigo

  • Build confidence with movement

  • Reduce anxiety

  • Improve quality of life

Many people are surprised by how effective targeted vestibular treatment can be — even if symptoms have been present for months or years.

How Vestibular Rehabilitation Helps

Vestibular physiotherapy can help you:

  • Reduce dizziness and vertigo

  • Improve balance and stability

  • Increase confidence with movement

  • Reduce the risk of falls

  • Return to work, driving and everyday activities

How I Got Into Vestibular Physiotherapy

My interest in vestibular physiotherapy grew from both my academic background and my values as a clinician.

As a PhD researcher, my work focuses on reducing the risk of falls - a major issue that affects independence, confidence and quality of life, especially for people living with balance problems.

I also strongly believe that people are not machines to be fixed. They are individuals with emotions, fears and experiences that shape how they move and recover.

Compassion, understanding and trust are central to my practice.

This naturally drew me toward vestibular rehabilitation, as many people with dizziness and balance issues also experience anxiety, fear and a loss of confidence in their bodies.

For me, vestibular physiotherapy is about more than exercises or techniques. It’s about empowering people to feel safe and steady again through evidence-based and compassionate care.
