Carter & George Terms & Conditions

While attending our practice, you will always be treated by a qualified healthcare professional.

All treatment is evidence-based and delivered within your Practitioner’s scope of practice. Your Practitioner will explain the treatment, its benefits, and any associated risks. You may refuse any treatment at any time without giving a reason.

In some circumstances, we may need to share information with your GP. Please let us know if you would like to discuss this.

You understand that you may refuse treatment at any time, without explanation and that an alternative treatment can be discussed and agreed.

You also agree to comply with our late cancellation and Did Not Attend (DNA) policy, which requires 24 hours’ notice to avoid being charged in full for your appointment.

Additionally, by signing this consent form, this infers your understanding and acceptance of the below:

  1. You are responsible for ensuring that your care is funded by your insurer. 2. Where you have private medical insurance, you remain responsible for payment of your care. However:
    a. Where possible, we will process insurance claims with your insurer, provided you have supplied us and your insurer with all required information. If information is incomplete or inaccurate, we may be unable to process the claim and you will be required to pay for your care as set out in (c) below.
    b. Where we process your claim and your insurer pays us directly, the rate agreed between Carter & George and your insurer will apply.
    c. If your insurer fails to settle our invoice (or any part of it) within 60 days of the issue date, we will assume payment will not be made and may invoice you directly or debit the outstanding balance from your credit or debit card.
    d. Where we invoice you directly, you agree to pay the invoiced amount within the stated time limits. If you believe an invoice is incorrect, please notify us as soon as possible so we can resolve any error or misunderstanding.

  2. It is your responsibility to confirm in advance that your care is covered by your insurance policy. Carter & George will not seek confirmation from your insurer on your behalf before treatment begins. Additionally, we are unable to contact insurers for approval at any point during treatment. Responsibility for any insurer-related queries or authorisation rests solely with the patient.

  3. Some insurers apply ‘Care Guidelines’ that may differ from the professional medical judgement of your consultant or other treating clinicians. As a result, certain aspects of your care may not be covered, and you will be responsible for those costs. In particular, treatment for complications may not be covered, and in such cases you agree to pay for your care as set out in paragraph 2(c).

  4. Your insurance policy may not cover sundry items or specialist equipment (such as crutches or wrist braces), or may only cover part of the cost. You will be responsible for any items not reimbursed by your insurer.

  5. Please check directly with your insurer for details of what is covered or excluded. If you pay for your treatment and later seek reimbursement from your insurer, and no alternative rate has been agreed, the prevailing self-funding fees will apply. These are available on request.

  6. Where no rate has been agreed between Carter & George and your insurer, the prevailing self-funding fees will apply.

  7. Prior to the commencement of your care, you will be required to provide Carter & George with your card details which will be stored securely by our payment processing provider. In the event of an excess being due, payment will be collected automatically using the card details provided. If this information is not provided, the start of your care may be delayed or may not proceed until this requirement is met.

  8. In the event where your insurer will not cover the full cost of your care, due to an excess being triggered or any other terms in your policy, you will be liable as the policy holder and care receiver for the remaining cost of the treatment.
