Specialist Services at Carter & George

When traditional methods like Physiotherapy and Exercise don’t yield the desired results, our clinic provides specialised services aimed at alleviating pain and restoring function in a timely manner.

These services are especially useful when surgical intervention is presented as the only remedy. Our range of specialised services comprises Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans, Steroid Injections, and Hyaluronic Acid (Ostenil) Injections.

Previously, these procedures were exclusive to hospitals. However, our team of healthcare professional experts can perform them in-house at our clinic.

Common examples of conditions that respond well to these treatments include Osteoarthritis, Rotator cuff pain, Knee pain, Tendon injuries, Tennis elbow, Hip pain, and Plantar fasciitis – as well as a range of soft tissue injuries.

Often, an injection can help accelerate your treatment plan in conjunction with your Physiotherapist. We take pride in offering a comprehensive injury clinic experience akin to those found in professional sports.

Cortisone/Steroid Injections

Cortisone injections are a specialised service that reduces inflammation in specific areas of your body.

Cortisone is a type of steroid that naturally occurs in the body and can be synthetically produced to reduce inflammation and pain. Steroid treatment is used primarily to reduce inflammation and often gives immediate pain relief.

A Cortisone Injection (or steroid injection) is widely used for a range of conditions involving inflammation such as arthritis, tendinitis, and bursitis.

By injecting cortisone directly into the affected area, we can deliver a high dose of the medication right where it’s needed, providing patients with a rapid way to relieve pain.

These type of steroid injections are different to anabolic steroids.

It’s another way Carter & George strives to deliver professional, beneficial treatments that meet your needs.

Ostenil/Hyaluronic Acid Injections

At Carter & George, we offer Ostenil injections as a specialized treatment option, primarily to relieve pain and discomfort associated with Osteoarthritis. Unlike a steroid injection, Ostenil is free from medication and therefore there are minimal side effects or risks associated with this type of intra articular injection.

Ostenil, or Hyaluronic Acid, is a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps lubricate and cushion your joints, providing smooth movement and reducing joint pain.

When introduced directly into the affected joint through an injection, it replenishes the diminished levels of hyaluronic acid, thereby reducing inflammation and pain while improving mobility.

This therapeutic intervention is a viable alternative for patients who seek non-surgical solutions and an enhanced quality of life.

Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans

At Carter & George, we utilise Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans as an integral part of our specialist services portfolio. This non-invasive technique is particularly effective in assessing musculoskeletal and soft tissue disorders, providing real-time imaging of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and joints throughout the body.

We place the ultrasound probe over the injured area, and high frequency sound waves produce an image of the structure inside.

Not only does this allow our healthcare professionals to diagnose conditions with precision, but it also aids in monitoring the progress of patients’ treatment plans.

We also use an ultrasound scan to guide our treatments such as a steroid injection, for accuracy over the injection site.

Our clinic’s commitment to adopting advanced technology like ultrasound scanning underscores our dedication to providing high-quality, accurate, and timely care to our patients.
