Matt Plater

Matt, our lead Physiotherapist at our Hitchin clinic, completed his physiotherapy Masters degree from Brunel University with distinction having completed a previous degree at Durham University in Sport Science. During his training, he was exposed to a variety of physiotherapy with the NHS as well as two impressive placements with Carter & George, earning him full-time employment.

With a background in First-class cricket and semi-professional hockey, Matt has an interest and passion for sports physiotherapy. He has supplied pitch-side cover across multiple sports and also has a level 3 diploma in sports massage. He is has completed a qualification in dry needling and acupuncture and has been learning IMS needling which he intends to use for the treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal pathologies, especially back pain. He believes that a mixture of hands-on and hands-off treatment gives the patient the best chance of a successful outcome and reduces chance of recurrence.

Outside of physiotherapy, Matt enjoys running, watching sport and music festivals.
